This is a "pop" book rather than a research finding, but Douglas Rushkoff argues that the generation of people raised on computers, video games, and television are more adept at multitasking than earlier generations. The book is Playing the Future: What We Can Learn from Digital Kids, New York: Berkley Publishing Group, 1999. It's actually a revision of an earlier book.
