I hope you had a pleasant summer and that this message finds you well.

I am writing to share new PhD opportunities within our ERC project. We currently have two fully funded, four-year PhD positions based at the University College Dublin School of Sociology. The positions include a €30,000 annual tax-free stipend and full tuition fee coverage.

The project advances the political economy of neurotechnology and brain-computer interfaces from a global comparative perspective, with a focus on Europe, the US, and China. Accordingly, Position 1 is structured around fieldwork in Europe and the US, while Position 2 focuses on China and therefore requires fluency in spoken and written Chinese.

We welcome applications from candidates with backgrounds or interests in areas such as political economy, science and technology studies, sociology of science, digital sociology, anthropology, and critical AI and data studies.
