Colleagues,
I’m writing to share a new essay article in the online magazine Broadcast. While some news media have covered the “quantum cliff” (aka Q-Day) from a cybersecurity perspective, Jesse Gilbert and I have instead
written about the broader social and cultural consequences of quantum decryption: what will it mean for us to live in a world where decades of our digital secrets are suddenly, and permanently, revealed to the world at large? This is a question we alluded
to in our book The Secret Life of Data, but in this article, we take a much deeper dive.

I look forward to hearing your thoughts!
