Toronto networking event for e-democracy and citizen engagement

Dr Liss Jeffrey, director of the McLuhan Global Research network @ the McLuhan Program in Culture and Technology, and senior researcher at the Knowledge Media Design Institute and Dr Alexandra Samuel (Harvard Government Department & the Cairns project) invite all those interested to a Networking event on citizen engagement & e-Democracy 5:30 - 7:30 PM on Thursday, September 9th at Bahen Building, 40 St George Street, rm BA1210 (just north of College Street; Queen's Park is the closest subway station) Or join us at 8 pm for a convivial post-event session at SpaHa, the U of T hang out, located at the northeast corner of Harbord and Spadina. Please join us for commentary and an update on: - developments and events in Canada (and elsewhere) this fall - e-Consultations - the state of eDemocracy (and democratic renewal) - citizen-led open source projects (public-whip, theyworkforyou) - the World Summit on the Information Society - new US-based projects - Internet governance Come and learn about projects, events and courses. Exchange information and meet others who are active in the citizen engagement and eDemocracy space. An informal first fall starter for those with research and practical interests in what's happening and what should be happening. Government, activist, student, professor, NGOs, consultants, all are welcome.
