I will tell you that i tried computer based transcription 2 years ago for an interview series with information technology professionals, and given various problems with training the program, specialized vocabulary, dialect, and everything else, it was far easier for me to transcribe it by hand than to use either dragon or viavoice. I used two different recorders, a commercial recorder and the dragon systems recorder. of the two, the dragon systems recorder was the more effective. I blame this on the fact that i made the mistake of setting the digital recorder to record on voice, which means you miss about 1/3 of the first second or so, which surprisingly can be the difference between a person making a point, or questioning a statement... and any number of other things. my experience is not telephonic though. I'd be very interested in how it works for you. On Monday, July 7, 2003, at 12:33 PM, Annice Kim wrote:
