Question about PhD programs that combine Digital Humanities/Internet Studies with Literature Studies
Seeking a PhD program that would combine literary studies with DH. Are there such programs? Where would be a good place to look for that? Thank you, Julia

Hi Julia, On top of what Shannon has already suggested, I’d also suggest looking for schools that have *both* a PhD program in literary studies *and* established programs/centers dedicated to the Digital Humanities. The presence of both doesn’t guarantee that all (or any) faculty in the literary studies program do DH work, but you can then examine the work of specific professors in the program to see if they collaborate with any of the DH programs/centers on campus or get in touch with the literary studies program to ask about the potential for combining the two fields. Hi Julia: At my institution, UC Berkeley, you can apply to a Ph.D. program in any humanities discipline like English, Comp Lit, Rhetoric, or a specific foreign language/lit dept (German, French, East Asian, etc.), and once you are admitted and begin your doctoral studies at Berkeley, you can apply for a Designated Emphasis in New Media at the Berkeley Center for New Media (http://bcnm.berkeley.edu/). We have many students in arts and humanities graduate programs doing the DE in New Media (at Berkeley, a DE is like a "minor" for grad students).
