evidence, not assertion, re female bloggers
I have just read a digest of assertion and counter-assertion re the prevalence of women bloggers. Not one person offered any statistics. Although Nancy gave a rough estimate. Surely, this is one place where qual and quant can agree. Researchers gotta get their categories right, but then should keep their canons dry and at least do some sampling, counting and percentaging. (1) There seems to be no big gender gap in general blog authorships: PEW Telephone Survey USA (2006): Bloggers 54% male, 46% female http://www.pewinternet.org/PPF/r/186/report_display.asp Herring et al. (2004). Sample of Blogs: 52% male authors, 48% female http://blog.lib.umn.edu/blogosphere/women_and_children.html (2) But female blog authors seem to be under-represented in public blogging discourses: again Herring et al. (2004) http://blog.lib.umn.edu/blogosphere/women_and_children.html (3) More Links: http://wiki.media-culture.org.au/index.php/Applications_of_Personal_Blogging...
