RE: [Air-l] blogs and value
Sure, I use FreeMind and (previously) MindManager quite a bit. One way I use them is for literature reviews - to keep track of major subjects and articles. See http://groupblog.workasone.net/archives/2004/12/literature-searching-and-map... Another is to organise my thinking around particular topics - but normally only at an early stage. I got started into mindmaps by reading Tony Buzan's original book on the subject, called Use Your Head -- he's written many since but to my mind this one is still the most interesting. http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/0563208112/qid=1114698278/sr=8.... The reviewers for Amazon, I note, hate it. It bears more looking into, but I have found it useful. Freemind is a good and free program. So I like that. Haven't used or heard of ZigZag before. I'd really like to hear about their experiences. I have to do an online survey to gather ethnographic data for a research paper. I know of a few survey tools out there that are completely hosted and provide an aggregate of the results, but I've no idea what their cost is. Have any of you used some good tools for this? I basically want to be able to send my prospective respondents a link via email that they follow to fill out the survey online and submit it. It would be approximately 20 questions, with only a few allowing write-in responses. Ideally I'd like to export the results afterwards into a spreadsheet for analysis and crunching. Tamara

Tamara, I have used Psychdata to collect my dissertation research data. They have proven to be very reliable and fairly inexpensive, although I have a small sample size. Check out their site at http://www.psychdata.com. Good luck! Natalie

Survey Monkey has a freebie for small surveys: http://www.surveymonkey.com/ For more substantial use, their sub is around $20 a month. Paula Tamara Paradis wrote:

This question has been asked a large number of times on this list over the years. Check the searchable archives at http://listserver.dreamhost.com/pipermail/air-l-aoir.org/ Also, Surveymonkey is free and a lot of people have used it successfully. Ulla
