Fellow AoIR members (and non-members), If you've been by http://aoir.org recently, you may have noticed that we have a new website. We decided to scale down and simplify a bit, and are now running Wordpress rather than Drupal. I think you will find it both easy to navigate and easy on the eyes. You may notice there are still some small things that need tweaked, and these will be fixed soon. In some cases, these are noted or obvious, but If you see something awry, or have comments or ideas, please do not hesitate to contact help@aoir.org. One thing that is notably absent is a credits line, and so I will insert it here. Åsa Rosenberg, the graduate representative on the executive committee, designed and built the site pretty much single-handedly. Those among us who do design know how time consuming this can be, and I want to thank Åsa for her willingness to push forward on this long-awaited update to our site, and for making a contribution that benefits the Association and us all. Thanks, Åsa! Best, Alex Halavais -- -- // // This email is // [X] assumed public and may be blogged / forwarded. // [ ] assumed to be private, please ask before redistributing. // // Alexander C. It seems a bit odd that no one has yet commented on how good the new aoir site looks. I think it looks brilliant, and thanks to those who do the hard work!! (in Australian - the hard yaka). Someimes, I feel there's little appreciation for the hard-working exec's of this organisation. Alex Halavais definitely deserves a beer (or other nominated beverage) from the AoIR members in Copenhagen! I for sure plan to see he gets one from me! Cheers, Denise Denise N. Rall, PhD. I couldn't agree more - but you need to add a number of others to your beer (or whatever) party. Indeed, because everyone involved is impressively modest, everyone has been diffident about taking well-deserved credit. But the truth is that Asa did much of the heavy lifting (as we say) on the redesign, beginning with the aesthetics and organization - and with the assistance of lots of input from the Exec at large, of course. Certainly, Alex was equally invaluable, especially in working through the technical details with Asa, and most especially as we neared the time for switching over to the new site. As well, Monica and Alex worked very hard together to finalize the details of the web elements for membership payments - details that, from the programming / administration side, were astonishingly user-hostile and complex, in more or less inverse proportion to what we hope will be a very user-friendly experience on the site itself. Last, but certainly not least, Sabryna was centrally involved both with organizational discussions and with taking on new responsibilities re. how to make the switch in terms of keeping membership information. Believe me, it was / is a blindingly complicated series of unnecessarily difficult details (technology making our lives easier - NOT!) that had / have to be navigated: kudos, I say again kudos! to especially these four and the Executive Committee at large. Again, I couldn't agree with you more, Denise, and thank you for calling our collective attention to these matters. The new website, in my view, represents an exceptional accomplishment in our organizational lives together, especially as it represents a significant improvement upon our services to members (and visitors). We all owe these folk, and the Executive Committee at large, more than one beer in Copenhagen! On that happy thought, cheers - c.
I'll buy you guys a beer too! Concur 100% - I have not visited the AOIR sitee in ages precisely because I felt it too cumbersome to navigate through. The new site is clean, fresh, and much more readable/navigable than its predecessor, and I daresay presents a more polished public Internet "face" for the Association. As the movie critics would say, 'two thumbs up!" and a "well done" to all involved! Cheers -rick

I agree with Richard. The Wordpress style simply dumps out the cumbersomes. I like it, fresh, clean and informative. BTW, I navigate and find no list of research / study / visiting oppportunities advertised. I think it could be even better if such information is available on the new aoir website. sorry, I was on holiday - and I read the mail, but usually am not too often on our homepage. which might change now, since it is really an improvement!! we changed our homepage (association of austrian psychotherapists) and therefor I know how much work there is to be done! best dominik Am 02.09.2008 um 03:33 schrieb Denise N.
