Apologies for cross-posting! — POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT Tenure-Track Assistant Professor of Media Studies Niagara University (Starting Fall 2014) The Communication Studies Department at Niagara University is seeking a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Media Studies to begin in fall 2014. Responsibilities: Candidates should have a strong critical media studies focus, with the ability to teach a variety of courses that incorporate a media literacy approach. The capacity to teach courses in media writing/production areas and/or industry experience is also desirable. The teaching load is a 3/3 with the opportunity to develop a new course in the candidate’s area of specialization. The successful candidate will also be expected to participate in departmental and university duties, including student advising and committee work. The Communication Studies Department applies the teacher-scholar model and holds an expectation of an active program of scholarly research and publication, as well as service to the University, the profession, and the community. The department’s maximum class size is 35 students, and it values a close-knit collegial community amongst both faculty and students. The successful candidate is required to have a Ph.D. in Communication or Media Studies in hand by the time of appointment. About the Department: The Communication Studies Department at Niagara University has a curriculum built on principles of social justice, and seeks to instill in its students the important contribution that mass media can play in bettering the human condition. The program is designed to give students a strong background in both the liberal arts and professional approaches to understanding mass media.
