Hi Andrew (and list), The Wired High Rise Project in Melbourne looked at residents' computer use, many of whom were migrants. Its final report is here: http://www.sisr.net/publications/0603wiredfinal.pdf. The focus was more on bridging the digital divide, but they did look at what residents used their computers for. There also might be some useful stuff in Linda Leung's _Virtual Ethnicity_ (2005 Ashgate Publishing), though her focus is race/ethnicity rather than migrant status. Cheers, Karen
