Call for Abstracts - STS Italia Conference, Milan, June 2025 - deadline February 3, 2025
Dear all, We are pleased to announce the Call for Abstracts for the upcoming 10th STS Italia Conference “Technoscience for Good: Designing, Caring and Reconfiguring”, which will be held on 11-13 June 2025 at the Politecnico di Milano, Milan (Italy). We invite you to submit an abstract to one of the 77 panels that have been selected by the Scientific Committee, featuring a wide range of engaging topics. Abstracts (max 500 words) can be submitted through the conference platform<https://stsitalia.org/submission-2025/>. Please note that the closing date for submission is February 3, 2025. This deadline will not be extended. Submissions after the deadline will only be considered if space is available. Abstracts will be evaluated by the organizers of the Open Panels to which they have been submitted. News of acceptance is expected to be delivered by February 28. Please check the conference website for details about scheduled deadlines and registration fees, as well as news about the conference program. The conference program already features an exciting set of international keynote speakers (e.g., Ruha Benjamin, Shannon Vallor) and plenaries, as well as a host of cultural, culinary, and festive events. The Catherine Will Symposium - April 14th 2025, University of Sussex The symposium honours the life and work of Catherine Will, Professor of Science and Technology Studies, University of Sussex. Catherine died in 2024 and left a legacy of academic work across a number of social science areas, including science and technology studies (STS), sociology of health, medicine and illness, politics and economics of health, social practices, research methods, social theory and social justice. This one-day symposium will bring together researchers from a range of disciplines and topics that have connections to themes and approaches in Catherine’s work. We are calling for short papers (ten minute presentations) in any area related to STS; politics, economics and sociology of health, medicine and illness; sociology as practice and social theory. Please present abstracts in the following way: Name Institutional Link (if any) 150 words outlining the focus of your contribution and links with Catherine and her work Up to 5 keywords Please send abstracts to mie23@sussex.ac.uk<mailto:mie23@sussex.ac.uk> by 31st January 2025 Our hope is to be able to put the event on without any charges to participants, and we are assuming that most participants will be able to cover their own travel and accommodation.
