What I should have said, " they spend more time socializing online than in f2f activities". We all hope that they are not using class time socializing and the breaks between classes and lunch do not afford much time. While we did not address the non-connected population our guess is that our results would be similar to yours. Also, mountain Colorado is very similar to the Blacksburg area. As an aside, my bachelors - masters was VCU + UVA and I lived in Richmond for 30 years. I have many friends who are Hokies. I digress. My point is that I know your geography well. It is my read that rural populations have found that the internet closes the distance between homes and frees the family phone in many cases. I still grouse about how my sisters dominated the phone back in the dark age of you youth. (I'm 62) Would you please send me your paper? My literature search did not find it. Shame on me. Reid
