(Online) Student Development Theory
I'm interested in working with some individuals on exploring how classic student development theory applies to the online world. I'm personally interested in focusing on college-aged students, but I'm sure this will expand to younger/older populations. I think there's something to be said about how online lives impact current theories and potentially there is a new theory waiting to be created about the online life of students. If you'd be interested in participating in some discussions (listservs, perhaps online chats), please send me an email so I can work on setting some discussions up. Thanks! -matthew vb Matthew Vanden Boogart George Mason University matthewvb@gmail.com

I'm very interested in these topics. In fact, I posed a very similar question about a month ago on this list and received a few responses; I'd be happy to summarize them on- or off-list if you'd like. An interesting development in this area is the very recent reconstitution of the NASPA Technology Knowledge Community (KC). I am hopeful that this very issue (student development and its relationship with theories of online behavior, CMC, etc.) will be an issue the KC and broader NASPA membership will be willing to address. If you're a NASPA member, you'll be seeing an announcement about this in a few weeks. If you're not a NASPA member and would like to join the listserv we are creating to discuss student affairs and technology, please drop me a line off-list. Kevin
