Hello Julian,

The chapter on digitization in the 2012 edition of Havens & Lotz' UNDERSTANDING MEDIA INDUSTRIES does a pretty good job on this topic. Also has a chapter on globalization (https://global.oup.com/academic/product/ understanding-media-industries-9780190215323?cc=us&lang=en&#). I haven't seen the 2016 edition, but assume it is at least as good. Although the 2012 book as a whole does rely on some theoretical models, they aren't too challenging conceptually, and the digitization chapter is largely descriptive. Of course, it might be a bit expensive, if you plan to use only one or two chapters.

I would much appreciate any advice for other texts. It should ideally be an introductory text that is not too heavy on theory, with an historical overview and examples, and could form a background for short answer/short essay assignments.
