Reminder: Proposals for upcoming Internet Research venues
Just a reminder that we soon will begin considering proposals for sites for IR12.0 and beyond. There has been recent discussion both about bringing conferences to new locations and controlling costs. One of the best ways to shape the future of the Internet Research conferences is to give us good options for sites. The call indicates that we will begin considering proposals on the first of August, which is quickly approaching. If you are considering a proposal, but may not have it ready by then, I would love to hear from you. Likewise, if you have questions about hosting, please do not hesitate to get in touch with me: vp@aoir.org. Best, Alex -- -- // // This email is // [x] assumed public and may be blogged / forwarded. // [ ] assumed to be private, please ask before redistributing. // // Alexander C. Halavais, ciberflâneur // http://alex.halavais.net //
And by IR12.0, I of course meant IR13.0 (in 2012). We are already set for IR11.0 in Gothenburg (you *have* registered, yes?) and IR12.0 in Seattle. Best, Alex On Mon, Jul 26, 2010 at 2:50 PM, Alex Halavais <alex@halavais.net> wrote:

Re date and version confusion: Personally I blame Nancy and Steve - why didn't they have the first conference in 2001 or (in one of those kooky computer-speak things, call the first conference v0.0). *grin*. matt Dr Matthew Allen Associate Professor and Head of Department, Internet Studies School of Media, Culture and Creative Arts Curtin University of Technology, CRICOS 00301J Australia m.allen@curtin.edu.au http://netcrit.net <http://netcrit.net/> @netcrit +61 8 92663511 (v) +61 8 9266 3166 (f) Australian Learning and Teaching Council Fellow ________________________________ From: air-l-bounces@listserv.aoir.org on behalf of Alex Halavais Sent: Tue 7/27/2010 4:55 AM To: aoir list Subject: Re: [Air-L] Reminder: Proposals for upcoming Internet Researchvenues And by IR12.0, I of course meant IR13.0 (in 2012). Mostly because... if you look back through the debates, I volunteered to do the program stuff that year.... the other debate one once a year or every other year, etc. there is a good bit of history in those debates, how they were organized, etc. that the organization could probably rely on . Back then we had air-meet which was a list where people who were interested in, could contribute to, conference organization, etc. On Mon, Jul 26, 2010 at 4:55 PM, Matthew Allen < M.Allen@exchange.curtin.edu.au> wrote:
