Successful candidates will possess or show clear potential of developing an excellent research profile in Sociology or Media and Communications. Although we welcome applications from those with an excellent research profile in any area of Sociology, Media and Communications which fit broadly with the interests of the Disciplinary Group (as outlined in the further particulars), preference may be given to those with research and teaching interests in one or more of the following specialisms: social theory, work and organisations, media studies, cultural studies, new media. The appointments will be made to the Sociology and Communications Disciplinary Group of the Department of Human Sciences, an interdisciplinary department that also contains Disciplinary Groups of Psychology and of Social Anthropology. The Sociology and Communications Disciplinary Group was rated 5 in RAE 2001 and has an 'Excellent' TQA score of 22/24.
