WEBCAST TODAY: Tech Policy Recess: Blockchain, Brokers & Web3
The issue here is that the recent US Infrastructure Law contained a provision, like the existing one for cash, that all crypto transactions over $10k have to be reported to the government. While this could be seen as something of a win for the crypto folks, i.e. crypto getting respect, the blanket inclusion of all "digital assets" is seen as overly broad, since it will include less fungible items such as NFTs and more obscure cryptocurrencies, as well as the more cash-like 'stablecoins' aka LTDA, or legal tender digital assets. It is suggested that much higher reporting thresholds be made for some classes of asset.
