ASA Sociology & Computers Section Paper Prize

Thanks, Eszter --- American Sociological Association Section on Sociology and Computers Graduate Student Paper/Software Award This award is for an outstanding research paper, the innovative use of existing computer software, or the design and implementation of new software by one or more graduate students (in case of a joint project, all contributors must be graduate students). Research papers should address topics subsumed by the section's name. This includes but is not limited to sociological analyses that use computer systems as research tools, and analyses of the role of information technologies in contemporary society, including the economic, cultural, or political dimensions of information technologies, in either local or global contexts. Papers should be no longer than 30 typed, double-spaced pages (excluding bibliography), no smaller than 12 point font. Submissions involving new or existing software should include detailed descriptions of the project and, if possible, copies of the software. Self-nominations are accepted and encouraged. Members of the prize committee are Caroline Persell, New York University; Philip Howard, Northwestern University; and Eszter Hargittai, Princeton University. Submissions must be e-mailed/postmarked by May 15, 2002. Online submissions in PDF format are strongly preferred. If sending via postal mail, please include three copies.
