Re: [Air-l] internet in movies, list so far
"Avalon" is another multipler online game-themed movie - it's a Japanese/Czech Republic production. "Tron" might also qualify. "Cry Wolf" featured instant messaging. What about "Ghost in the Shell" (1 and 2 - or are you avoiding animation?)? On Tue, 28 Mar 2006 09:49:06 -0600 air-l@listserv.aoir.org wrote:

It's actually Tomas in Love (French film) Me and You and Everyone We know (2005) also uses the internet and chat rooms as part of the plot, you must have missed that one on the list I sent you. =) I wonder how do we differentiate the use of the Internet in movies with the technology of it. You Got Mail vs Ghost in the Shell for example. magda On 28-Mar-06, at 13:54, Sara M. Grimes wrote:

Must love dogs (2005). There is a big part on online personals. American Pie 1 could also be a good candidate for the list On 3/28/06, Sara M. Grimes <smgrimes@sfu.ca> wrote:

I've been getting a number of emails (thanks!) that point out boundary issues in trying to generate a list like this. For instance, is The Matrix REALLY about the internet? Does a film about a corporate network fit? Does animation count? My own interest is in movies that (a) feature the internet as it currently exists, or existed at the time the film was made (b) made a lot of money at the US box office and (c) showed the internet impacting personal relationships. But given the enthusiasm with which recommendations have been pouring in, I don't think that the list I'm building should be limited to those relevant to my own project. Nancy
