Hi, Would anyone happen to know when the term 'lifestyle blogger' first started getting used? My notes tell me that I first started hearing of it around June 2008. I tried the air-l archive, and the WayBack Machine with no luck. Google gave me a first mention in January 2006 - http://chubbyhubby.net/blog/?p=256 Searching for "lifestyle blog" gives too many results where the date is not accurate (for example, the site is dated 2002, but the term comes from the profile which may have been updated yesterday...). Any ideas, pointers, or (best of all) links would be much welcomed. Thanks, Julian ++++++++++ Blog: www.julianhopkins.net Twitter: @julianhopkins Skype: julhop IM: jfprhopkins@hotmail.com
Are you specifically looking for when the term began? Or when the definition began? ...but then again, I don't even know what you mean by 'lifestyle blogger'. What does that mean? On Dec 9, 2009, at 11:50 AM, Julian Hopkins wrote:

Thanks. Sorry if I wasn't clear enough. In Malaysia, a 'lifestyle blogger' usually refers to someone who blogs about their life (as in the personal/diary type), but focuses more on parties, product launches, PR events, fashion/makeup, and assorted gatherings, etc. Bloggers who fall within this category are usually the most successful in terms of monetising their blog, particularly through the use of advertorials (paid posts). I'm interested in knowing when the term started to be used, and more specifically when it started to be used in reference to this particular genre. I assume the term derives from the Magazine/Sunday Paper 'Lifestyle' sections that deal with travelling, food, cultural events, etc. Thanks, Julian -----Original Message----- From: live [mailto:human.factor.one@gmail.com] Sent: Thursday, 10 December, 2009 03:48 To: Julian Hopkins Cc: air-l@listserv.aoir.org Subject: Re: [Air-L] Lifestyle blogger Are you specifically looking for when the term began?
