I'm looking for an easy way to see frequently used locations for Meetup.com listed meetups on a map. Has anyone seen such a thing? Or know if Meetup has an API that would allow this? My goal is to compare areas in the Twin Cities in terms of their Meetup density. Steven Clift E-Democracy.org
Hi Steven, I've never done this, but Meetup.com has an API that would allow to retrieve geolocation properties of listed meetups like city, longitude and latitude: https://www.meetup.com/meetup_api/ There are also different API Clients out there to pull the data (for Python, PHP, Ruby etc.): https://www.meetup.com/meetup_api/clients/ Here is a brief tutorial to get started: https://trendct.org/2015/04/03/using-python-and-r-to-pull-and-analyze-meetup... A simple way to get a list of coordinates on a map would be https://www.google.com/mymaps by creating a new map and importing the data from a csv file: https://support.google.com/mymaps/answer/3024836?hl=en I hope this is helpful.
