For more info go to http://www.makinglinks.org.au/ Web 2.0 - The Adventure Begins and Social Network Fundamentals These sessions will address how NGOs can utilise social networking technology - learn about pitfalls, innovation and tips Special Access Kit - This demonstration workshop will provide participants with hands-on experience of the creative application of technology for people with a disability Website Structure - This beginners workshop explores some of the principles for structuring and labelling web content to assist your users in locating relevant information quickly and easily Podcasting, Its Not As Hard As You Think - This session shows how even a cash strapped community organisation can start podcasting, and points to free online resources Breaking the digital divide between women from diverse cultural backgrounds - An introduction to the Connect Out project, which aims to reduce social isolation and enhance skills among recently arrived migrant and refugee communities Additionally, Making Links is pleased to announce Danny Butt and Dr Christine Satchell as keynote speakers. Danny Butt is a consultant in new media, culture, and development based in Aotearoa New Zealand. In his presentation Danny will outline some of the ways that community- based practitioners can avoid some of the pitfalls of new technology in planning and evaluating their projects. Dr Christine Satchell currently works at the University of Melbourne's Interaction Design Group. Christine will discuss emerging technology trends such as Web 2.0 with a particular focus on strategies non-profit and community organisations can employ to interact with youth and young people for social change and community action.
