Hi folks, The CFP for SIGDOC's 2012 conference is now live! Please feel free to share. We would love to see more AOIR folks represented here! A special interest group in the Association of Computing Machinery, SIGDOC focuses on all aspects of the design of interactive systems and related texts, including those used in industry, recreation, education, science, and social exchanges. Our organization is international and interdisciplinary, so you'll be presenting to, listening to, and networking with people from different backgrounds and disciplines. You'll get to see how people approach similar communication problems in different fields. SIGDOC publishes conference proceedings in the ACM Digital Library. Every accepted paper is also a peer-reviewed publication with a global reach. So it's an awesome opportunity for established scholars and especially for graduate students. Submissions are due June 1, so please plan now and encourage your students and colleagues to do the same. More info and the call for papers is at the website: http://sigdoc.org/2012. Questions? Feel free to contact us. Best, Liza Treasurer/Secretary of SIGDOC http://sigdoc.org/ _________________________________________ Liza Potts, Ph.D. Assistant Professor of Digital Humanities Department of Writing, Rhetoric, & American Cultures Michigan State University East Lansing, MI 48824 Email: lpotts@msu.edu ______________________________________________________________________________________ *SIGDOC 2012* *At SIGDOC,* presenters cover all aspects of the design of interactive systems and related texts, including those used in industry, recreation, education, science, and social exchanges. Industry and academic researchers are encouraged to submit research papers, experience reports, and interactive posters. Contributions may include studies of design processes, research methods, deployment analyses, and situated use studies related to the design and use of communication artifacts. Conference submissions should address topics including, but not limited to: - Design for Interaction - User Experience Methods to Support Design - User Support Systems and Documentation - Open Source Design Solutions - Collaborative Systems - Design Principles - Human-Computer Interaction (HCI/CHI) - Computer-Mediated Communication - Approaches to Information Design and Information Architecture - Design of Learning Systems/Environments - International and Intercultural Communication Design Submission Guidelines SIGDOC 2012 submission types include research and technical papers, experience reports, and posters. Authors should submit full papers as described below for blind review. During the review period, papers, experience reports, or poster proposals can be submitted for review through an online submission platform which will be provided through conference web site. - *Research and Technical Papers. * Full papers should not exceed 5,500 words, approximately 10 pages in ACM SIGDOC conference format (available at the site), including figures and references. The experience report is a standalone, six-page extended abstract that describes a design experience and its lessons for other designers of communication. The experience report must include the title, an abstract of up to 150 words, and keywords.
