Sign-up for one of three free 45-minute "Introduction to DiscoverText" workshops offered today, February 5, 2021 at 12:00, 2:00, and 4:00 PM EST. This workshop is for students and faculty with a valid academic email address. It focuses on how to collect and study Twitter data. You will learn how to gather, search, filter, deduplicate, cluster, human code, and machine-classify Twitter data using a mixed methods framework. The methods include inductive qualitative as well as deductive hypothesis testing approaches. We will discuss important legal and ethical considerations when working with Twitter data. Participants who complete the training and a short 3-question feedback survey will be granted a 2-month gratis license to pursue their own research and free project consultation as needed. Each license supports a group of users and the web-based software platform remains the best way to iteratively measure inter-rater reliability while adjudicating accuracy and ranking groups of human annotators over time.
