Here's the official description: Class Title Assistant, Associate or Full Professor, Games and Interactive Media Administrative Title No Administrative Function Job Description The Nicholson School of Communication and Media (NSCM) in the College of Arts and Humanities at the University of Central Florida (UCF) seeks an assistant, associate, or full professor for research and teaching in Games and Interactive Media. This is a nine-month, tenure-earning (assistant professor) or tenured position (associate professor or professor) that includes teaching, research, and service-based duties. The anticipated start date is August 2019. Research and teaching responsibilities include contributing to the mission of Games and Interactive Media in appropriate areas of scholarship, and working at the intersection of theory and practice. Appropriate specializations may include areas such as game design and development, web design, social media, mobile and responsive design, virtual/augmented/mixed reality, technical art, and other research areas related to the intersection of interactive technology, art, and the humanities. Faculty will support the Digital Media B.A. (with specializations in Web and Social Platforms and Game Design) and the Digital Media M.A, and have the opportunity to work with students in NSCM’s new Strategic Communication Ph.D. program. Faculty members are expected to actively pursue and obtain external funding and to develop projects that achieve peer reviewed recognition for innovation and excellence. Position Minimum Qualifications At the time of appointment, applicants must hold a terminal degree in an appropriate discipline from an accredited institution. Candidates must demonstrate a nationally-recognized agenda of research or creative work in a relevant area. Candidates must possess significant teaching experience in courses incorporating the development, production, and theory of games and interactive media. In order to be hired as a tenured associate professor or professor, the selected candidate must have a demonstrated record of teaching, research and service commensurate with rank. Preferences Ideal candidates will show evidence of being a theorist and practitioner, with a demonstrated sustainable research agenda related to digital media. Candidates who have administrative or leadership experience. Candidates who have a record of obtaining research funding.
