Hi I have to admit that I do not have the time to read all the Air-L newsletters, but I try. Yesterday somebody pointed out to me that there had been a thread on Flickr research this summer, which I missed, but my name was mentioned. As I have received several emails with enquiries about my work on Flickr, I have decided to put some of my conference papers online, and may add some more, although they have not been published yet. I'd procrastinated booking my hotel for the AoIR conference and went on Priceline to name my own price for a hotel last night.
I used the Choose Your Own Price option and selected downtown, which ended up with me booked in the conference hotel for $53 a night plus tax.
The conference hotel shows up in the 3.5 star category and I'm staying Wednesday through Saturday.
With Choose Your Own Price you don't know what hotel you'll get, which means that you could end up somewhere else, but I figured this was a big enough discount that it was worth passing the news along to other AoIRers. Good luck.

Didn't see it on the previous digest, but gotta announce that Jeremy Hunsinger got his PhD today (Monday) at VaTech. (We won't count the minor tweaks he has to do.) Yay, yay, yay (and it's about time).
IMHO, Jeremy was THE main man in keeping AoIR going, with all his behind the scenes computer / dbase/ listserve work. And I say this with thanks to Steve Jones (the non-spam one) and Nancy Baym.
Now let's get him a job near Toronto, and make me and wifey happy.

Dear AOIRs: I am a doctoral student at the University of Illinois at Urbana- Champaign. I am currently doing my thesis research about how people read online news. I?m inviting you to participate in a study whose objective is to know how we cognitively process online news. Participants in the study will have to read short news articles online and to answer some questions about them. The study will take around 15 minutes, depending on your reading speed. All your answers will be managed anonymously.
?
Thank you very much for helping me with my thesis research!
?Feel free to send the link to other people to invite them to participate.
