Finland has played an important role providing innovative uses for the Internet such as IRC and intellectual frames to look at the Internet such as the Information Society. Also, Finland is the birthplace of Linux. In recent literature Finland is often mentioned as sharing with South Korea the distinction of the largest percent of the population connected to the Internet via broadband.

Hello Jay-- You and Rhonda might also be interested in reading: Suoranta, J. and Lehtimaki, H. (2004). Children In the Information Society: The Case of Finland. New York: Peter Lang. The authors report on a federal government-funded large-scale survey of children and families with respect to their ICT and other media uses. I'm not sure where you're going in Finalnd, but Tampere is home to some really interesting research and community-based internet projects.
