Call for Chapters: Handbook of Research on Teaching Computational Thinking in Primary Education
In last ten years, CT education have taken place directly in curricula of some countries on the level of primary education while CT education has started to be provided with various fields in an integrated way in some countries. However, there are very limited research-based discussions about the scope of CT education and proper pedagogic methods for CT which is still a very new field. Therefore, it is believed that this study will bring significant contribution to the fund of knowledge in CT education which is in its infancy phase yet and will lay ground for discussions in the field. It is aimed that this book will address to all shareholders of computational thinking education; namely, families, teachers, teacher educators, researchers and policy makers. Recommended Topics Contributors are welcome to submit chapters on the following topics relating to teaching computational thinking in primary education: Defining computational thinking Critics of teaching computational thinking in primary education Limitations and power of computational thinking What computational thinking means for primary education Assesing computational thinking How computational thinking can be facilitated in primary education Pedagogies for teaching computational thinking Game design and computational thinking How can we integrate computational thinking into different subjects Teaching computational thinking across different learning contexts Relationship of computer programming to computational thinking Teaching coding in primary education Relationship of computational thinking to problem solving The use of visual programming languages to promote computational thinking in primary education Cognitive benefits of learning programming How to bring computational processes to bear on problem solving Editor Hüseyin Özçınar Pamukkale University Proposals Submission Deadline: March 30, 2016 Full Chapters Due: May 30, 2016 Submission Date: August 30, 2016 For details please visit the: http://www.igi-global.com/publish/call-for-papers/call-details/2017 Assist.
