New MA curriculum in Digital Media, Data and Society, University of Milan - Applications open
With apologies for cross-posting Applications are open for the new MA curriculum in Digital Media, Data and Society, part of the Masters’ programme in Public and Corporate Communication at the University of Milan, Department of Social and Political Sciences. Coordinated by prof. Alessandro Gandini, the curriculum is focused on the critical study of datafication, platformisation, digital media and societies. It features a combination of theoretical and methodological modules taught by a faculty of internationally renown scholars in the academic field of digital media and sociology of communication, including: * Digital society * Social media and platform cultures * Visual communication * Digital politics and public opinion research * AI and data cultures * Coding for the computational social science * Data analysis & research design * Journalism, media & politics * Consumer culture * Value change in global societies This is the flagship curriculum of the nascent Milan School of Media and Communication (https://msmc.unimi.it/people/), a new research initiative that brings together researchers at the University of Milan with an interest in digital media and communication, platform studies, journalism, digital methods and artificial intelligence, and public opinion research. For EU candidates and visa holders, there are 200 places available. Applications may be submitted until 25 August 2025. Admission is subject to an entry test, undertaken online on 2 September h. 9.30 am. For non-EU candidates and visa applicants, there are 30 places available. Applications may be submitted by 29 May 2025. Students will be evaluated on the basis of their academic cv and BA graduation mark. Ranking lists are published on 12 June and enrolment takes place between 12 and 19 June. Classes start on the third week of September and are taught entirely in English. Mandatory entry requirement for all students is the possession of an English language certification level B2 or superior.
