Intersections: Internet research, policy practice, and issue advocacy
Dear colleagues: I'm eager to find a group of AOIRers who might be interested in pursuing scholarly work that explores the possible intersections between/among Internet research, policy practice, and issue advocacy. Please feel free to email me privately, off list. Thanks, RG Lentz, UT-Austin (rglentz@mail.utexas.edu).
I would be interested in chatting with you at least on the first two of these -- I am a bit hesitant on the latter because I am still in a bit of conflict over whether one can "do" issue advocacy and objective research with the same hat one. Absent that it calls into question the issue of objectivity, postmodernists not with standing. ********************************************************************* Paul M.A. Baker, Ph.D., Associate Director of Research Office of Technology Policy & Programs (OTP) Georgia Centers for Advanced Telecommunications Technology (GCATT) Atlanta, GA 30318 404.894 0073 [paul.baker@gcatt.gatech.edu] ********************************************************************* ----- Original Message ----- From: <rglentz@mail.utexas.edu> To: <air-l@aoir.org> Sent: Friday, November 02, 2001 7:48 AM Subject: [Air-l] Intersections: Internet research, policy practice, and issue advocacy

Apologies to the list. [I swore I would never get caught doing this -- posting a note to the list meant for an individual]....probably will start a "firefight" now about advocacy research, etc. etc.[grin]. ********************************************************************* Paul M.A. Baker, Ph.D., Associate Director of Research Office of Technology Policy & Programs (OTP) Georgia Centers for Advanced Telecommunications Technology (GCATT) Atlanta, GA 30318 404.894 0073 [paul.baker@gcatt.gatech.edu] ********************************************************************* ----- Original Message ----- From: "Paul M.A. Baker" <pmbaker1@earthlink.net> To: <air-l@aoir.org> Sent: Friday, November 02, 2001 7:55 AM Subject: Re: [Air-l] Intersections: Internet research, policy practice, and issue advocacy

I'm interested in this, especially if theory is included in the practice and research parts:) rglentz@mail.utexas.edu wrote:
