Dear community members, We are delighted to share the publication of our special issue - "Methods in Visual Politics and Protest: Mixed Methods, Data Curation & Anti-Publics" - in the Journal of Digital Social Research. This publication marks the first installment of a double-special issue dedicated to the exploration of methods in visual politics and protest, with the anticipation of the second part to be released in the coming months. This issue assembles five pioneering articles that confront three pivotal methodological challenges encountered throughout the research process - from data access and collection to analysis and visualization. The contributions within this issue notably advance mixed visual methods approaches to the exploration of topics such as Memes, Far-Right mobilization, Political Bots, and Political Feminism, while introducing novel techniques for constructing and curating visual datasets, and methodological explorations of visual anti-publics.
