Dear colleagues, The next Knowledge Commons webconference organized by the International Association on the Study of the Commons (IASC) will take place online on 9-11 June 2021. Janssen, and Charlie Schweik -- IASC 2021 Knowledge Commons Virtual Conference https://2021knowledge.iasc-commons.org/ Aims & Scope The virtual conference, a 3-day meeting with pre-recorded and live events, will address problems defined by knowledge systems, including innovation spaces, digital resources like Wikipedia and Stack exchange, open-source software development, the future of science and education, the archival of existing knowledge, cultural commons and citizen science. What are the opportunities (low costs of sharing and reproduction, collaboration, access) and challenges (privacy, security, freeriding, inequality, incentives, manipulation, artificial intelligence biases, exclusion, trust)? We anticipate four overarching themes: Classic Knowledge Commons and Practices Technologies, Infrastructure and social systems supporting the development of Knowledge Commons General Knowledge Commons Issues COVID-19 Related Knowledge Commons When you submit your abstracts we ask for a list of keywords. During the conference you can create your “playlist” of presentations and sessions based on the keywords. We welcome different kinds of contributions: Proposals for webinars Prerecorded talks Session of prerecorded talks Other Contributions Call for Abstracts Submit your Abstract Online Conference Schedule May 1, 2021 Deadline for abstract submission May 15, 2021 Notification on acceptance/rejection June 1, 2021 Deadline for pre-recorded video submission Dates June 9-11, 2021 Event dates Attendance costs This virtual conference is accessible for small fees to cover the costs of the implementation of the meetings. All presenters will have to be or become IASC members. IASC members pay 10 USD to attend the virtual conference live. All conference material will be available to IASC members after the conference. If you are not an IASC member, you can easily register here. Non-IASC members can attend the conference for a fee of 50 USD. Dependent on sponsoring, waivers are available for early-career scholars and practitioners from the global south.
