Postdoc at UvA (Horizon Europe ANTIGONE): speech grey zones, platforms & democratic contestation
Dear AoIR colleagues, We're hiring a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Amsterdam for the Horizon Europe project ANTIGONE: From Antagonism to Agonism in Digital Ecosystems. The position focuses on “speech grey zones” — contested forms of online communication that blur the boundaries between misinformation, harmful content, political expression, and legitimate democratic disagreement. The project approaches the tension between free expression and disinformation as a broader question of how disagreement is institutionally and technologically shaped in digital environments. We're particularly interested in candidates working across internet/platform studies, digital methods, online political communication, platform governance, disinformation, digital cultures, and qualitative/computational approaches to digital media research. The position is based in Media Studies at the University of Amsterdam, with close links to the Digital Methods Initiative (DMI), Open Intelligence Lab (OILab), and an international consortium of academic, journalistic, and civil society partners across Europe. Please circulate to anyone who might be a strong fit. Deadline: 26 June 2026 https://werkenbij.uva.nl/en/vacancies/postdoctoral-researcher-in-digital-med... best wishes, Marc Tuters University of Amsterdam
