peter and johnson Lenz who did a lot of interesting design work on Computer Mediated Communications in the 70's and 80's especially on the EIES system once proposed the concept of the "weavers" on the web as those that brought together discussion threads in new ways to provide both summaries and innovative ideas. I always felt this was a better term for blogging or what blogging should be. They did design one sysetm along this idea for people to be able to weave views of the future for others to travel.
