Re: [Air-L] digest it! not FB it!
Hi while we're discussing this, it would make it easier to follow threads on digest mode if people who are replying deleted the message(s) they are replying to, thanks -Ella Ella Taylor-Smith Institute for Informatics and Digital Innovation Edinburgh Napier University 10 Colinton Road Edinburgh, EH10 5DT Email: e.taylor-smith@napier.ac.uk http://www.iidi.napier.ac.uk/e.taylor-smith http://about.me/EllaTaylorSmith @EllaTasm Edinburgh Napier University offers industry informed courses which combine the optimum balance of theory and practice to equip graduates for success in today's competitive global job market. 92.3% of our graduates are in work or further study within six months of leaving. It's been years, but -- we used to have tools (metamail?) to split digest mail up into individual messages for perusal. Pretty sure the variant I used to use was called metamutt - a script that ran inside mutt and knew how to present a digest as a temp folder with threading, et cetera, so you could cruise the digest a little more easily. Alas, with webmail and the like, most people's direct access to this kind of technology has disappeared. [You can certainly still use it - say by grabbing your mail over IMAP and then post-processing it - but the barriers to entry are much higher than they used to be - folks are no longer accustomed to setting up a suite of tools to handle mail, and instead want only to use whatever lowest-common-denominator tool is handed to them....] --e On Mon, Aug 5, 2013 at 9:08 AM, Taylor-Smith, Ella <E.Taylor-Smith@napier.ac.uk> wrote:
