[Webinar] [December 1st, 6:30pm IST] Learning from Phone toh Uthao! A peer change-agent led social and behavioural change communication intervention
Hello everyone, Over the past year, BBC Media Action in India has been working with women’s empowerment collectives on a proof-of-concept named *Phone toh Uthao! *(Just pick up the phone). The *Phone toh Uthao! *proof-of-concept is focused on addressing negative perceptions and attitudes towards women’s use of mobile phones and digital technology in rural India, through a peer change-agent led approach utilizing social and behavioural change content. The need for this design emerged from the unacceptably large gender gap in access to and use of digital technologies in South Asia, as measured by the GSMA in their annual Mobile Gender Gap reports. I hope you can join us for a 90-min webinar hosted by the GSMA on 1 December at 6.30 PM IST (New Delhi) to discuss learning from *Phone toh Uthao! * The GSMA has identified *Phone toh Uthao! *as one of the most innovative interventions to emerge from the GSMA Mobile Digital Skills Alliance 🙂 Here's the link to register: https://www.linkedin.com/video/event/urn:li:ugcPost:6998584354775965696/ *We'll be discussing **learning *f*rom 12-months of gender intentional, human centered design research with Chaitanya WISE *and the* GSMA*, including: - How innovators in women's Self Help Groups (SHGs) are using digital technology to enhance their livelihoods - The importance of social and behavior change communication to tackle normative barriers - Leveraging peer change agents in trusted social networks - Using vernacular digital terminology - Designing accessible WhatsApp chatbots, opt-in processes and privacy policies for women in low literate low-income contexts We would love to have attendees from AoIR, with the diverse experiences and knowledge that you all bring, and look forward to hearing your thoughts.
