Hi everyone. Can anyone suggest an article or book with data that is as current as possible on the digital divide? Something on the US that offers a more complicated picture of 'digital divides,' such as race/ethnicity data broken down by gender/income/education would be ideal. And/or something that breaks down the DD at a global level? Anything from the academy or NGOs would work. Thanks! Peter.
Dear Peter Best I can do is share my bibliography on this issue: http://ictlogy.net/bibciter/reports/types_categories.php?idcat=23 You can sort by year, so you can go directly to most recent works. Your question is quite broad, but if you're just looking for some general facts on the US society related to digital usage, the Pew Internet Project ( http://www.pewinternet.org) is a must stop. Best of lucks :) Ismael Peña-López ICTlogy.net Public Policies for Development and ICT4D School of Law and Political Science Open University of Catalonia On Thu, Feb 5, 2009 at 8:55 AM, Peter Chow-White <petercw@sfu.ca> wrote:

You might also check out www.gapminder.org which uses UN data. I think they have Internet data back to 1990 but not sure of all the cross variables available but there are quite a few. You can find Canada here but this data will not have future funding and yes this is a plea to save my job. We should be running the Canadian Internet Use Survey 2009 this year but have no money. So data is only available from mid 1990's to 2007 http://cansim2.statcan.gc.ca/cgi-win/cnsmcgi.pgm?Lang=E&SP_Action=Sub&SP_ID=...

This question was asked here from time to time. Did you look into the archives ? OECD Communication Outlook will give you an answer of some of your questions. For European data go to the Eurostat website. The data often cover more than the European Union. -ft Peter Timusk wrote:

The Canadian Internet Use Survey for 2009 is now funded and I am pleased to relay this news. It will also be redesigned in 2010 and run as well in 2011. Peter former research assistant Internet Society Statistics Statistics Canada. On 5-Feb-09, at 6:13 PM, Peter Timusk wrote:
