Participations: Latest issue out now!
Participations: Journal of Audience and Reception Studies has just released its latest issue! This particular issue coves a wide array of issues and questions: on top of its usual selection of articles focusing on participatory audiences, this open-access journal features two themed sections and a debate and response article. In the first themed section, "Toxic fan practices", a collection of 13 articled, including an extended foreword by Matt Hills, consider trolling practices, the circulation of alt-right memes, the "puppygate" controversy, heternormativity in Harry Potter fandom, and the pleasure of spoiling. The second special themes includes four articles on documentary audiences, featuring works on truth claims in a post-truth era, activism in action, and a critical analysis of documentaries in VR environments. Furthermore, this issue contains articles on cinema-going as practice, *Cinéma Verité*, social media and participatory television production, and the Shanghai International Film Festival. Including works from a variety of scholars from all around the world, Participations has once again brought together diverse perspectives and approaches into the study of media reception.
