Re: [Air-L] PHD-level courses in online research methods? (Marius Johannessen & Jeroen Moes) Air-L Digest, Vol 64, Issue 32
Dear Marius & Jeroen, Organising a workshop in May in Florence is a great idea! I would be interested in participating/attending. I have experience of conducting an online survey of bloggers and using social media e.g. Youtube to recruit participants. I have papers/presentation notes from talks I have given e.g. "Using Online Surveys in ESLR" ESRC RDI - Workshop 2: Methods & Approaches in Empirical Socio Legal Research. University of Liverpool. Jan. 2008, and 'How and why to research with online surveys', Realities, ESRC National Centre for Research Methods, University of Manchester November 2009 I can send pdfs or copies of papers to you if you're interested? In the meantime, I suggest Joeren, that you have a look at the website below, as you can work through the resources in your own time: http://www.geog.le.ac.uk/ORM/site/home.htm <https://staffwebmail.salford.ac.uk/exchweb/bin/redir.asp?URL=http://www.geog.le.ac.uk/ORM/site/home.htm> Regards, Karen ---------------- Karen Mc Cullagh http://www.law.salford.ac.uk/mccullagh.php <https://staffwebmail.salford.ac.uk/exchweb/bin/redir.asp?URL=http://www.law.salford.ac.uk/mccullagh.php> http://works.bepress.com/karen_mccullagh/ <https://staffwebmail.salford.ac.uk/exchweb/bin/redir.asp?URL=http://works.bepress.com/karen_mccullagh/> Salford Law School Lady Hale Building University of Salford M5 4WT +44 161 295 7087
Hi Ulf, Karen, Jessica, Marius, I will get back to you later with more info (I'll be away all day today on seminars and meetings), but for the time being, here's a message that I sent to Marius and Jessica yesterday: I think organising such a workshop could be very interesting and fruitful. I have just send around an e-mail here at the institute asking whether there is a more general interest in such a workshop (to be organised around April 2010, not May* if we go through with it), and to what extent it is possible to involve 'external' researchers in it. If it can be organised here, the institute will provide funding for it (I don't exactly know how they approach non-EUI researchers, but will check). I expect positive reactions and will keep you posted. * = might be May after all - that depends on the planning of the workshops over here. Will check. I suggest that for now we try not to clutter the mailing list too much with organisational stuff - anyone interested please contact us directly! I'll keep in touch later this week!
