Hi, My name is Colin Koteles and I represent the Information Technology Studies undergraduate minor, a program offered through the Graduate School of Library and Information Science at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Currently, we are gathering data on programs, degrees, minors, etc. that involve the study of the Internet. These programs are variously titled Internet Studies, Information Studies, Information Technology Studies, Information Science, etc. While we are aware of those programs that have received coverage in the press (e.g., Brandeis, Centenary College of Louisiana) as well as programs offered by many of the ALISE affiliated institutions, we would like to hear about any other programs, both existing and soon to exist. We are specifically looking for programs that provide a course of study rather than interdisciplinary institutes where research may go on, but we'd like to hear about the interdisciplinary institutes as well. If you offer such a program now or will in the near future, we'd like to hear about it. Thanks for your time, /Colin ____________________________________________________________________ Colin Koteles (koteles@uiuc.edu) Academic Advisor, Undergraduate Information Technology Studies Minor Graduate School of Library and Information Science University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign ____________________________________________________________________
we have the online information policy, and society graduate certificate http://www.ips.vt.edu which is taught both by local and remote faculty members, the page needs revision of course. We also have the science, technology and society m.a./ph.d.program http://www.cis.vt.edu/sts which can have a focus in information technology, and we are just launching a school of public and international affairs(www.spia.vt.edu) ph.d. which also can have a focus in information technology, though it will be more policy oriented, no webpage on that yet though. perhaps the first Internet Studies program offering degrees from certificate to ph.d. in internet studies is Curtin University of Technology in Perth http://smi.curtin.edu.au/internet/internet.html Jeremy Hunsinger http://www.cddc.vt.edu Instructor of Political Science Center for Digital Discourse and Culture Webmaster/Manager CDDC 526 Major Williams Hall 0130 http://www.cddc.vt.edu/jeremy --my homepage Virginia Tech (yes i partially updated it) Blacksburg, VA 24061 (540)-231-7614 icq 5535471
