Visiting Assistant Professor of Communication, Fall 2022. Ph.D. preferred; ABD required by August 15 start date. Teach three undergraduate courses each semester (18-20 contact hours/year) in Communication with primary teaching responsibilities in the department’s core courses of Mass Media and Media Texts. The visiting faculty member will also teach at least one Special Topics course in their primary area of study. The position is non-renewable. A successful candidate will a) provide evidence of teaching excellence at the undergraduate level, b) demonstrate their commitment to Trinity University’s liberal arts mission, c) have completed graduate coursework aligned with the identified teaching areas, d) demonstrate commitment to Trinity’s value of intentional inclusion, and e) demonstrate willingness to support the goals of the Pathways general education curriculum. Embracing the liberal arts and sciences mission of the university, the Department of Communication stresses an integrated, non-sequenced approach to its curriculum. Students in Communication at Trinity build their major upon three core courses: Mass Media, Media Texts, and Media Audiences. They complete the major by undertaking a Senior Capstone Seminar where they synthesize their understanding of communication theories and practices into a substantial academic, professional, or creative project.
