I'm doing a research on YouTubers' characteristics, self-presentation strategies, why they Youtube and what do they have to offer and was wondering, if there are any studies done about YouTube that any of you might have seen or heared or used. Thanks a lot, Best, Ana Keshelashvili Adjunct Faculty, PhD student, Georgian Institute of Public Affairs Caucasus School of Journalism and Media Management 2 Brosset str., Tbilisi, Georgia http://www.gipa.ge
A couple of basic demographics/time use questions were included on a recent Harris Poll: http://www.harrisinteractive.com/harris_poll/index.asp?PID=724 Ana Keshelashvili wrote:

There are articles, but not too much in the scholarly department because You Tube is so young...only a few years old. However, I would use the recent Time magazine person of the year article and the fact that You Tube was recently cited as one of the best technologies of the user-generated media age. Also check out Good Morning Silicon Valley. They have nice archives on You Tube. Truthfully, I would go to the source, You Tube, and obtain data from them directly and find out if they know of any articles. I am certain that they keep tabs on articles of all types concerning them, but you may not get all of the critical ones. -----Original Message----- From: air-l-bounces@listserv.aoir.org [mailto:air-l-bounces@listserv.aoir.org] On Behalf Of Laura Sheble Sent: Thursday, February 08, 2007 9:37 AM To: air-l@listserv.aoir.org Subject: Re: [Air-l] Any YouTube research? Hi all, I'm a postdoc at the Annenberg Center for Communication at USC, where I've been researching identity performance and the semiotics of video production, sharing, and reception on YouTube for a MacArthur funded project on digital youth. I have two academic papers accepted for presentation: Fostering Friendship Through Video Production: How Youth use YouTube to Enrich Local Interaction to be presented at the International Communication Association Conference, May 24-28, in San Francisco, California Commenting on comments: Investigating the meaning of emotional feedback on YouTube to be presented at the Society for Applied Anthropology, Annual Conference, March 31, 2007 in Tampa, Florida. And I have another called "How Tubers teach themselves: Narratives of self-teaching as technical identity performance on YouTube" which I just submitted to 4s." I'd be happy to talk more about my ideas once the papers are written and presented! Looking forward to hearing about what you find also. Best regards, Patricia G. Great work Patricia! I can't wait to read your papers. I will be defending my dissertation sometime next month on Convergence in Higher Education, and then I will talk more as well. I produce national industrials, documentaries, commercials and psa's for a large organization. I hope to talk to you before I return to LA for my next project or research assignment. -----Original Message----- From: air-l-bounces@listserv.aoir.org [mailto:air-l-bounces@listserv.aoir.org] On Behalf Of Patricia Lange Sent: Thursday, February 08, 2007 4:24 PM To: air-l@listserv.aoir.org Subject: Re: [Air-l] Any YouTube research?
