Katrien Jacobs has written an interesting book about alternative sex cultures on the web: Jacobs, K. (2007) *Netporn: DIY Web Cultures and Sexual Politics*. Lanham, MD: Rowman & Littlefield Publishers. also, there's an interesting reader online from a conference about internet pornography, held in Amsterdam in 2007. you can find it here: http://www.networkcultures.org/_uploads/24.pdf in addition, i just finished a paper on user-generated pornography and gender ideology on YouPorn. it's been submitted to Convergence, but if you'd like a copy then you can send me an email. hope this helps a bit, Niels On Tue, Jan 27, 2009 at 10:50 AM, Mathias Fuchs < fuchs.mathias@googlemail.com> wrote:

Hi CarrieLynn, The proceedings of Arse Elektronika have also just been published, and audio archives from the 2008 meeting are on line. You can find both at the Arse Elektronika website: http://www.monochrom.at/arse-elektronika/ The event is organized by Vienna art/culture group Monochrom and has featured well-known scholars, authors, and performers. The Amsterdam conference mentioned below was called C'Lick me and was quite good; also organized by Katrien Jacobs Best, Kim On Tue, Jan 27, 2009 at 2:51 AM, niels van doorn <nielsvandoorn@gmail.com>wrote: Katrien Jacobs has written an interesting book about alternative sex cultures on the web: Jacobs, K. There are a few books in the Digital Formations series I edit for Peter Lang that might be of interest, depending on the definition of virtual sex and virtual pornography, and the focus of your interests, and some that may be useful as a foundation even if not directly on the topic, including Susanna Paasonen's "Figures of Fantasy: Internet, Women and Cyberdiscourse," Consalvo's and Paasonen's "Women and Everyday Uses of the Internet: Agency and Identity," O'Riordan's and Phillips' "Queer Online," Waskul's "Net.SeXXX: Readings on Sex, Pornography, and the Internet" and "Self-Games and Body-Play: Personhood in Online Chat and Cybersex," and Senft's "Camgirls: Celebrity and Community in the Age of Social Networks." I expect the series to continue to publish books broadly on this topic, too. Sj On Jan 27, 2009, at 3:50 AM, Mathias Fuchs wrote:

I put together a brief reader for my undergrad course in cyberporn several years back. There are still some copies floating around out there: "Cyberporn & Society." Probably won't get you too far if you are doing research or already have a good grounding in the issues, but provides a bit of an introduction. Less on virtual sex, more on pornography. - Alex On Tue, Jan 27, 2009 at 7:29 AM, Steve Jones <sjones@uic.edu> wrote:

I think it looks quite good - presuming I go forward with my plans to do a book on online porn for Polity (er, assuming they decide I should go forward ...), it will play a significant role. Hope you're well - BTW: did you ever straighten out the login problem that fellow was having last week or so? I'm confident you did - thanks! - c.
