information about burma/myanmar social networks
Hi: I'm beginning to do some research on social networks (particularly online) in Burma/Myanmar. If anyone has information about expat networks, activist groups, or more importantly, knowledge about social networks inside burma, that'd be great - I'd appreciate any leads. Many thanks. -- Nikki Usher Doctoral Student Knight Digital Media Center Research Assistant Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism University of Southern California mobile: 213-220-7824
This is probably too obvious, but what springs to mind for me is the Democratic Voice of Burma, based in Norway. Richard Ehrlich makes a good case for blogs being instrumental in bearing witness to the crackdown in 2007: Ehrlich, R. S. (2007) Myanmar's blogs of bloodshed. Asian Times Online, 29 September.
