Re: [Air-L] [External] Air-L Digest, Vol 190, Issue 21
Re: YouTube Videos Hi Asmaa - I've put together some R code that uses Gaurav Sood's tuber package to gather YouTube metadata through the API. It requires little coding on your part - just typing in the video IDs for the videos you want. Here are the links: - tuber package: https://cran.r-project.org/web/packages/tuber/vignettes/tuber-ex.html - my Github repository: https://github.com/nlgarlic/YouTube-Related-Video-Similarity Best of luck with your research! Just about to start. One of the more radical observations included is that the UK/Europe emphasis on fostering competition may have inhibited some infrastructure investment that has, in turn disadvantaged remote communities.

Dear all,
I would like to analyse a YouTube video corpus and I am looking for some automatic tools (free software, plug-in, etc.) to extract the video Metadata (Titles, View numbers, Likes, Subtitles). Please don't hesitate to share with me any ideas or papers on these subjects. It would be very helpful!

Hi everyone, I am learning how to do social media research as a PhD student and I would love some information on how to collect data from open Facebook groups. Are there any tools that can do this or how can I do this while obeying the IRB? I know their API is a lot more difficult than Twitter but the info on Facebook is very valuable. Would love any insight and thank you so much.

Hello,
Is there any way (free APIs) to retrieve data from ios/Play store related to Apps?
I'm interested on their rank, amount of users (even better in a timeseries), categories, how many apps release the developer, and all data would be useful to study their impact on the store.
Someone can address me?
Best

Dear All,
Together with my co-editor Em?lia Barna, we are happy to announce the publication of the edited volume "Popular Music, Technology, and the Changing Media Ecosystem: From Cassettes to Stream" (Palgrave Macmillan, 2020).
https://www.palgrave.com/de/book/9783030446581
"This book explores the relationships between popular music, technology, and the changing media ecosystem. More precisely, it looks at infrastructures and practices of music making and consuming primarily in the post-Napster era of digitization ? with some chapters looking back on the technological precursors to digital culture ? marked by the emergence of digital tools and platforms such as YouTube or Spotify. The first section provides a critical overview of theories addressing popular music and digital technology, while the second section offers an analysis of the relationship between musical cultures, taste, constructions of authenticity, and technology. The third section offers case studies on the materialities of music consumption from outside the western core of popular music production. The final section reflects on music scenes and the uses and discourses of social media."
All the best,
Tamas
