Re: [Air-L] Air-L Digest, Vol 71, Issue 4
As for the teaching writing in Second Life, I know of at least one teacher (not through my institution) who is affiliated with the Caledon estates in Second Life. I myself am a Communications student who specialized in online communications, and who is now planning her doctoral studies to take place and use Second Life as an example of a virtual world (studying reputation/social investment in virtual worlds). Are any of you using Second Life to teach? My dissertation advisor would like me to find writing teachers particularly in SL, but I'm curious about exactly who from this list is there.
If you're thinking about it, I'd love to hear from you. If you suspect that one of your colleagues is, I'd appreciate a push towards that person as well.
I am Deanya Zenfold in-world; I'll be glad to take any questions or comments. Lots of contact info is in the sig line.
Thank you all! Deanya Lattimore

Dear Colleagues
Due to conflicting date assigment by the venue, we are requested to postpone the dates of the Mobile Life 2010 conference. All is now re- arranged and the new dates for the conference is 27-28-29 October 2010 at the same venue: The Grand Hotel, Brighton UK.
Please also note that all submissions - research, practice, tutorial and demos - to the conference are open. For submissions please visit http://www.m4life.org/conferences/
We are making all efforts to have a successful conference with a high quality content. All our highly reputable plenary speakers have confirmed the new dates and are able to attend the conference. Soon we will post the draft program outline to the conference web site.
Further information about the conferences can be found at http://www.m4life.org/conferences/ and all enquiries regarding the conferences should be directed to conf@m4life.org
On behalf of the organising committee,

I don't know of anyone using second life to teach but that would be a blast, we at Jyvaskyla University are putting together a project proposal on formal and informal learning looking, among other things, at what the formal brings into the informal and viceversa, as well as to the construction of routine through ritual actions. Let's keep this discussion going.
Best, Max
