**** The University of Essex’s Chimera institute, based in Ipswich, wishes to appoint two talented individuals to join a multidsiplinary team of social and technical scientists.
We are looking for two quantitative social scientists, one with a strong geographical background and the other with a strong sociological background.
Ref. R/709 Quantitative Social Geographer: The postholder will work on a commercially funded project to develop a spatial microsimulation model of Britain (Whole Market Model project). This is a fixed term post for 2 years in the first instance.
Ref. R/710 Quantitative Sociologist: The postholder will split their time between the above project and an EU FP6 funded project on social capital, quality of life and information technology (SOCQUIT project: www.eurescom.de/socquit). This is a fixed term post for one year in the first instance.
Appointment to these posts, from 1 October 2005 or as soon as possible thereafter, will be made in the range £19,460-£24,820 per annum dependent on skills and experience.
