I'm hoping someone on the list can help me and one of my students doing thesis work. He's looking for a program that will allow him to search Twitter on specific dates to see if specific topics were discussed. In particular, the program would need to be able to sort tweets by straight chronology, without privileging people with a lot of followers. He found Topsy, but it seems to focus on relevance with no way to do straight time.
