VIRTUAL ART : new video documentation
Fellow Internet Researchers, Colleagues and Friends,
The research project DATABASE OF VIRTUAL ART at Humboldt University has recently created a video documentary series of contemporary media artists like Maurice Benayoun, Jeffrey Shaw, Jean-Michel Bruyère, Luc Courchesne, Masaki Fujihata, Lev Manovich and Zoe Beloff... These videos, representing a small portion of the complex database - going public this summer - are now already available through the ARTE website.

Although this is not directly related I thought others on here may be interested. The connection between the now popular video game and art is an area I myself am interested in as I'm currently studying the virtual body of lara croft (incidentally if anyone on here knows of any interesting links toward the virtual body please let me know!). http://www.primal-art.com/ Primal art offers an intriguing look into the world of contemporary art and its impact on video games. Primal although not released as yet here in the UK has stirred up much hype, not only with regards to its amazing visuals but also its symbolism. Angela PS I'll be away in the USA for the next 3 weeks so forgive non replies! (oddly enough I'll be meeting with the woman who voices the main character on the Primal videogame). --------------------------- Sociopranos - Society Redefined: All new members welcome! www.sociopranos.com eLearning, ICT and Social Inclusion Discussion Forum http://bbs.odeluce.stir.ac.uk ----- Original Message ----- From: "Pete J. Hi everyone, I am currently working on my fourth year thesis and I am trying to find something regarding how the Internet has become a new area for the construction of celebrity. What i mean by this is that traditionally the main way that the audience received their views of stars was from officially endorsed studio means such as interviews, press releases, publicity photos etc. Now however, the internet acts as a producer of texts on celebrities such as newsgroups, forums, websites etc. Would anyone know of any published authors who discuss this? Thanks Angela --------------------------- Sociopranos - Society Redefined: All new members welcome! www.sociopranos.com eLearning, ICT and Social Inclusion Discussion Forum http://bbs.odeluce.stir.ac.uk
